Forget about pitocin to induce labor, just order some “medium” spicy curry from Gandhi Mahal! I don’t even want to imagine what “hot” spicy curry would have done. Yes, ladies and gents, Heidi’s water has finally broke. It broke as she was standing up from the table at Gandhi Mahal last night at about 9pm. However, don’t get too excited yet… still only 1-2 centimeters dilated, and the contractions are just now starting to be about 6 minutes apart, but they are getting stronger (6-7 on the pain scale). She will be getting some pitocin to try and get things moving a little more consistent and faster. Still looking at “a while” before things really start happening.

Well me and the spawn were back to the doctor this morning. She’s doing great. Passed her tests just fine. My blood pressure is up, but they’re going to let us wait it out until next Monday to Induce again. We’ll be 3 weeks past were they wanted me to go, so they will not let us leave on Monday without having baby. So she has 7 days to make it happen! Meanwhile “Baby Mug Hanzely” is keeping the crib toasty.

Well it’s Saturday morning and I expected to be snuggling with little Cleetus and watching Dominic change diapers. That’s how it works right?

Not in the cards! After 3 rounds of Cytotec, a round of Cervidil and a round of Pitocin, the spawn has decided to stay put for a little longer. Frankly, being stuck in bed with an IV and a couple monitors strapped on for two days is not my idea of a good time.

The staff at Methodist were great. Although yesterday they did give me diabetes medication and then an hour later because my sugars were getting a little high gave me 6 units of insulin. Of course my blood sugar tanked down into the 40s and I was feeling drunk, sweat was dripping everywhere and I was begging Dom to turn down the heat. After the third such request, he answered, “Umm… well it’s at 60, but I can turn it down more if you want. “ It felt like a 120 degrees in there! Meanwhile the Pitocin was still going and I was having contractions every 3 minutes. Oh that’s good times I tell you!

At any rate, we’re all back home and I think we’ll just wait for Ms. Cleetus to arrive on her own.

Thank you to everyone that helped us out, from all the good thoughts and prayers,texts and phone calls, to Patty wrangling the livestock in our absence and of course, Kevin helping Dom bail his car out.

We’re goin’ home! I think Heidi is rather pleased with the prospect of real food, being able to walk around freely and her own bed. ______ Christine Hanzely will be here at a later date.

Hour two of pitocin 2:25PM

The pitocin dosage started at 2.5mL/hr and is now up 24mL/hr. Contractions are also starting to occur more frequently with a little more oomph to ‘em; 4-5 on the trusty old pain scale.

I think Heidi is “over” this whole “induction” process and ready to go home. Every now and then when she looks at me, I swear I can see her imagining pinching me! But, the pitocin is now hooked up, so the next few hours could be interesting, or we could be headin’ home. So far, the contractions have been sporadic and 3-4 on the 10 point pain scale.

Still no change or progress. They will take another look at 11:30′ish this morning and possibly start some pitocin, but if by 4Pm’ish there still isn’t any change they may send us home for a few more days.

Baby is doing very well and mommy says she’s “crabby”. Daddy is … well… who cares.

Poor girl, she’s starving but can’t eat anything due to them trying to keep the blood sugar in check.

STILL no pitocin, and at this point, it’s not looking very promising that there will be any pitocin tonight at all. Good thing Netflix has movies that you can watch on demand from your computer.

Yay!!!

I failed to remember that our street was getting swept today… off to bail out my car.

Heidi is doing well, still no pitocin, so no progress in that respect.
